Brian McGuinness, MD, FACS

Dr. Brian J. McGuinness earned his medical degree at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio and went on with his fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery at the University of Texas, Houston Texas.

Board Certified Expertise

He is a board certified in American Board of Surgery; and American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery. He was a recipient of various grants and awards in the field of research during his residency. Dr. McGuinness is a member of Alameda & Contra Costa Medical Association; Northern California Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons; Northwestern Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons; American College of Surgeons; and American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons. He served as Chairman, Department of Surgery, John Muir Medical Center- Concord Campus. He also preceptored several surgeons nationally in laparoscopic and minimally invasive techniques in colon and rectal surgery. His interest is infectious, inflammatory, and neoplastic disorders of the intestines, colon & rectum.

Dr. Brian J. McGuinness joined Bay Area Colon & Rectal Surgeons in August, 2003. He was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts.
